Vault & Insurance
The Vault plan adds two ways to round out your complete financial picture — the things a bank balance doesn’t capture:
- the Tangible Asset Vault — property, vehicles, and valuables you own, and
- Insurance — the policies that protect them.
Both let you attach documents (appraisals, titles, declaration pages) to keep everything in one place.
These are Vault-plan features. If you drop to a lower plan later, your existing assets and policies stay visible and exportable — you just can’t add or edit new ones until you upgrade again. See Plans & Billing.
Tangible Asset Vault
Open Vault in the navigation to track things you own that aren’t in a financial account — your home, a car, jewelry, art, or collectibles.
A tangible asset has a name, a type (Real Estate, Vehicle, Jewelry, Collectible, Art, or Other), an optional location/detail, and an optional acquisition cost and date. Its current value is just a snapshot, the same as any other account — so you update a valuation the same way you log a balance, and its value flows through your net worth, allocation, and trend charts automatically.
- Add an asset with its current value (that becomes its first valuation).
- Update value any time to record a new valuation — the asset’s history builds up just like a bank account’s.
- The Vault summary shows your total tangible value and how it compares to what you paid (appreciation) when you’ve entered acquisition costs.
Tangible assets count toward your net worth. That’s the difference between them and insurance policies (below), which don’t.
Property equity
A house you own and the mortgage against it are two separate records in WorthSync, which makes it hard to see the number that actually matters: your equity. The Property Equity page connects them.
For each property it finds — a Real Estate account or a real-estate tangible asset — pick the matching liability under Mortgage account and choose Save link. The property then shows:
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Equity | Tracked property value minus the linked mortgage balance. |
| LTV | Loan-to-value: the mortgage as a percentage of the property’s value. |
| Mortgage | The linked liability’s current balance. |
| Status | Linked or Unlinked. |
Summary cards at the top total your property value, mortgage debt, and linked equity across every property you’ve connected. Unlinked properties show Link mortgage instead of an equity figure and are left out of those totals.
If the mortgage dropdown is empty, add the loan as a liability in the Mortgages category first. Once linked, your equity also appears as a card on the dashboard and in the Monthly Review summary.
Property Equity is available on every plan — you only need a property and a mortgage recorded. Tracking the property as a tangible asset (rather than a regular Real Estate account) is what needs the Vault plan.
Insurance
Open Insurance in the navigation to keep your policies in one place. Insurance is a protection layer, not an asset — so policies are tracked separately and never counted in your net worth.
Each policy records:
- a type — Life, Home, Auto, Umbrella, Health, or Other,
- the insurer and an optional policy number,
- the coverage amount (the payout/limit),
- the premium and how often you pay it (monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual), and
- the renewal date and free-form notes (beneficiaries, agent contact…).
The Insurance page totals your coverage across all policies and your annualized premium, and flags any policy renewing soon so a lapse doesn’t sneak up on you.
Documents (your safe-deposit box)
Both tangible assets and insurance policies let you attach files — think appraisals, receipts, titles, photos, or a policy’s declaration page. Open an asset or policy and choose Documents.
- Supported files: PDF, JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, up to 10 MB each.
- Files are stored privately and encrypted; downloads open through a short-lived secure link, not a public URL.
- Deleting an asset or policy also removes its attached documents.
Documents are stored server-side (so your household can see shared ones and support can help if needed). This is separate from the zero-knowledge Encrypted Vault for secrets only you can read.
Security Posture for Vault Records
Because the Vault handles higher-trust records (like legal documents and property details), it employs enhanced security boundaries:
- Field-level Encryption: Sensitive fields on Vault records are encrypted at the application layer before reaching the database.
- Row-Level Security (RLS): Access to Vault records and their attached documents is strictly enforced at the Postgres database level, ensuring cross-tenant data bleed is impossible.
- No Public URLs: Attached documents are never exposed to the public internet. Downloads are streamed securely through the authenticated app session.
Common questions
- Does my house/car inflate my net worth? Tangible assets do count (that’s the point). Insurance policies do not.
- Can I keep my policies if I downgrade? Yes — they stay visible and exportable; you just can’t add or edit until you’re back on Vault.
- How do I get reminded about a renewal? The Insurance page surfaces policies renewing within the next couple of months at the top.
