How tiers work
- Your plan is set at the household level. When any member of your household has an active subscription, the whole household gets that tier (the highest active tier across members wins).
- You don’t need to create a household first. Every account already has a personal household, so you can subscribe immediately.
- A solo (single-member) free household behaves like the classic solo tier: private accounts only, no recap — but it can upgrade at any time.
Upgrading
- Go to Pricing.
- Choose Household or Vault.
- You’ll be taken to Stripe Checkout to enter payment details.
- On success, your tier updates automatically and the new features unlock.
Managing your subscription
Use the billing portal (linked from settings/pricing) to update your payment method, change plans, or cancel. The portal is Stripe’s secure hosted page.
Comp / promo codes
If support gave you a complimentary code, redeem it on the comp screen
(/comp). Valid codes grant the corresponding tier for their duration. A comp
grant always takes precedence over your subscription-derived tier while it’s
active.
Downgrades and your data
If you cancel or downgrade:
- Your data is never deleted by a downgrade.
- Higher-tier features become read-only or hidden, but you can still view and export everything (data portability is intentional).
- Shared accounts may revert to private behavior on the free tier.
Common billing questions
- Will my partner be charged too? No — one active subscription in the household covers the whole household.
- What happens when a comp expires? Your tier reverts to whatever your Stripe subscription provides (often free), automatically.
- How do I get a receipt? Stripe emails receipts; you can also find invoices in the billing portal.
